Hi everyone,

My company applied for an international language teaching visa COE in the humanities category, on 3rd April.

I really emphasise with everyone waiting for good news, it’s never a fun experience putting your life on hold for anything.

I am aware of how the waiting times are varying wildly, with some people seeing around a month turnaround and some being 3 or 4 or even 6 months.

My questions is does anyone know whether country of origin affects the waiting time and would a country like the UK see a quicker turnaround time?

Any guidance is much appreciated :)

Yes some countries seem to have their COE processed faster on average, from what I can read from all of the response on this thread and other forums.
Applications from SEA, Pakistan, India etc. tend to be subject to extra scrutiny by the immigration bureau than, say, North America or Western Europe ones, so I often notice longer delays for them.

Of course it also widely depends on every applicant’s own circumstances, so people from the same country applying for the same COE aren’t guaranteed to have identical processing times

Good luck for the wait! The limbo is hard but we’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel eventually

Finally I received my COE after 4 month of waiting

Spouse visa application submitted on January 22, 2024
No response received as of date. ( 3 months & 16 days)

I contacted Nagoya Immigration, they simply said wait. Someone asked me to engage a lawyer, but I am not sure if this will anything. Can anyone please guide me who has recently submitted COE.

Is there anyone who received Spouse/Dependent COE from Osaka Immigration between Dec to Jan.

Or who received COE from Jan

Status: Waiting (nearly 4 month)

Dependent CoE (7 years ago applied for CoE for exchange, applied by a professor)

Me: Gijinkoku visa 5 years
Application date: 23 January 2024

Waiting days with anxiety: 107 days incl today.

Previously student for 5 years, started working Oct 2023 in category 1 company.
Since I had no income when I was a student, I cant issue residence tax certificate.
I made a letter of reason (理由書) explaining this.

I submitted:
1. income tax certificate (Oct 2023-Dec 2023) that shows 3 months income (because this certificate is on yearly basis)
2. expected yearly income (for one year period until Sept 2024).
Both documents are sealed by the representative of the company.

I did not declare that my company category 1.

Called once on 25 February and the usual "please wait it is usually 1-3 months" answer.

It seems they are very busy, as per the quarterly report published by the MOJ,
during 1/2024 - 4/2024 period, dependent CoE needs 86 days.

Oh, forgot to mention explicitly.

Still waiting and no additonal documents were asked.

No any update regarding the COE applied to Osaka immigration for the Engineering visa. More then 3+.

American here who applied for a specialist in humanities status of residence, on April 1st, after 2.5 years as an ALT.

Still nothing, and a call to the Shinagawa office yesterday revealed that I’m still under investigation.

I have been informed that our COE has finally been released by the immigration.

Date of Application: 1 February 2024
Date of Release: 9 May 2024
Immigration bureau: Osaka (Kobe branch)

I hope and pray that everyone who have been waiting get their COEs.
